The ILAE British Branch YES Annual Event brings together clinicians, researchers, scientists and allied health professionals from across the epilepsy community for an afternoon of learning, discussion and networking. Through a series of practical talks delivered by experts from different disciplines, attendees will gain insight into how epilepsy is investigated, diagnosed, researched and managed in real-world clinical and academic settings. From neuroimaging and neuropathology to neurophysiology, genomics, surgery, nursing and developmental research, the programme showcases the diverse expertise that contributes to modern epilepsy care. The day is designed to mirror the real-world epilepsy surgery multidisciplinary team (MDT), demonstrating how specialists from different disciplines contribute unique perspectives that, when combined, help answer important questions in epilepsy care.
This event is open to anyone with an interest in epilepsy, including medical students, trainees, nurses, physiologists, psychologists, pharmacists, basic scientists, translational researchers, data scientists, clinical academics and consultants. Whether you are considering a career in epilepsy or are already working in the field, the meeting aims to provide a unique opportunity to learn from experts, discover different career paths, build new collaborations and better understand how multidisciplinary teams work together to improve outcomes for people with epilepsy. Alongside the educational programme, dedicated networking sessions and a panel discussion will encourage interaction between delegates and speakers in an informal and supportive environment. By the end of this meeting, delegates will:
- Understand the roles of different professionals involved in epilepsy care and research.
- Learn how multidisciplinary teams investigate, diagnose and manage epilepsy.
- Gain insight into key areas including neuroimaging, genomics, neuropathology, surgery and neurodevelopment.
- Understand how epilepsy surgery decisions are made using information from multiple specialties.
- Explore career and research opportunities within the field of epilepsy.
- Network with clinicians, scientists and researchers working across epilepsy care and research.
